Rare Birds of North America

Rare Birds of North America was published in March 2014 by Princeton University Press. It covers 262 species that have occurred as vagrants throughout the US and Canada. Each species is illustrated in detail and where appropriate is shown next to its commoner, closest relative to aid identification. The number of images on a plate varies depending on the species.

Most of the original plates are as they appear in the book, for example:

However, some are made up of two or three individual pieces of artwork that have been spliced together digitally. These single pieces are also available for sale, for example : Blue Bunting and Red-footed Falcon

A complete list of all the plates/images can be found HERE. If you do not have the book but are interested in a particular species please EMAIL IAN and he will send you a scan for your perusal. Prices range from around £25 for small single images to £400 to a full page of figures. Most plates are comprised of 4-6 images and are in the region of £200-£300. Most plates are 22 cms wide with variable depths.
